PRESS RELEASE: RP Responds to President Ramaphosa - ANC Rule is the Problem, Cape Independence is the Solution
In his remarks to the National Dialogue, President Ramaphosa asked why poverty persists, why inequality remains, why taps run dry, and why clinics run out of medicine.
The Referendum Party (RP) has a simple answer: 31 years of ANC rule. These crises are not accidents - they are the inevitable result of policies that have crippled the economy, hollowed out state capacity, and entrenched corruption.
RP Leader Phil Craig says: “South Africans didn’t need R740 million wasted on an opulent conference to ‘ask questions’ we already know the answers to. The solution is clear - scrap the policies that punish merit, reward political loyalty over competence, and concentrate power in a failing central government.”
The Western Cape is home to millions who have never voted for the ANC, yet are forced to live under its rule. We send billions to Pretoria every year, only to have our needs ignored and our resources diverted to prop up failure elsewhere.
The answer for the Cape is clear: only a referendum on Cape Independence can give us a government that fights poverty, ends lawlessness, and serves all our people equally - not one that divides us by race and delivers only failure.
