PRESS RELEASE: RP Welcomes DA’s Economic Inclusion for All Bill as Step Toward True Non-Racialism
The Referendum Party (RP) has welcomed the Democratic Alliance’s Economic Inclusion for All Bill, as a vital step toward restoring the constitutional principle of non-racialism and ending decades of failed race-based policy. RP says the Bill’s intent aligns with its own Non-Racialism Bill, submitted to Parliament in July, which seeks to amend Section 9 of the Constitution to explicitly prohibit all forms of racial discrimination.
For more than twenty years, the ANC’s empowerment policies have entrenched poverty and inequality rather than resolving them. RP argues that Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) has served as a patronage network for the politically connected - enriching elites while excluding millions of deserving South Africans purely because of their race.
RP leader Phil Craig says, “The Referendum Party is vehemently opposed to all race-based policy and wholeheartedly supports the DA’s bill. Non-racialism is not just a political preference, it is a constitutional imperative - and all parties committed to equality before the law must now work together to achieve it.”
RP expresses hope that the DA will, in turn, support its Non-Racialism Bill when it comes before the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development, ensuring that the principles of fairness, merit, and equality before the law are finally restored to the forefront of South African public policy.
